La chica de atención al cliente
El Internet es, sin duda alguna, un lugar excepcional.
Durante los años que nos hemos dedicado a crear sitios web para casi todo tipo de clientes nos hemos topado con imágenes de stock, que se compran en Internet para uso general. Estas fotografías, aunque genéricas, ayudan a transmitir el mensaje deseado sin infringir las normas de derecho de autor usando imágenes descargadas de Google sin el permiso adecuado.
En todo este tiempo hay una foto que hemos encontrado una y otra (…y otra) vez: la chica de atención al cliente con un auricular puesto, a quien llamaremos sólo por su segundo nombre, Sofie.

Sofie es una joven danesa que aparece como modelo en el sitio de imágenes de stock, iStockphoto. Aunque posa en una variedad de actividades (como dirigir una junta de negocios, ayudar en un consultorio médico, operar en un quirófano, trabajar en un laboratorio, disfrutar un spa, jugar en un casino, pasear por la playa, caminar en el parque, cocinar, bucear en el mar, esquiar sobre el agua, chupar un limón, lavar los platos, besar a su novio, enojarse con su laptop, meditar, ir de compras con sus amigas y tomarse un martini en la alberca), casi todos la conocemos por su papel como chica de soporte.
Podemos verla trabajando para una agencia de viajes en Perú…

Es tan común encontrarla que debería convertirse en un juego de bebida: cada vez que Sofie aparezca en una página web, todos toman un shot de tequila.
¡Sofie! ¡Shot! ¡Shot! ¡Shot!
Incluso hemos visto que alguna escuela usa la imagen de Sofie en su publicidad impresa, lo cual nos hizo pensar que tal vez se hartó de dar soporte a los clientes de miles de empresas y decidió estudiar una carrera.
Resulta que en la vida real, Sofie estudió leyes antes de descubrir que su vocación es la música aunque ya había escrito su primera canción desde los 11 años. Sofie, quien ahora vive en Londres, canta, toca el piano y escribe la letra de sus canciones, 3 de las cuales ya ha grabado a la fecha de este artículo.
Según su perfil de LinkedIn, actualmente también trabaja como consultora de estrategia de marca y desarrollo de productos para una empresa que vende zapatos (que, por cierto, no usa sus fotos de stock).
Abogada, modelo, cantautora y consultora… parece que nuestra querida Sofie realmente hace de todo, como en sus fotos de stock.
Por respeto al trabajo de Sofie, a quien contactamos via e-mail, no incluimos su nombre completo ni detalles sobre su carrera artística, aunque todo está disponible en Internet.

The Internet is definitely an exceptional place.
For years we have been in the website development business for almost all kinds of customers and we have come across many stock photos, bought on the Internet for general use. These generic photos help convey the customer’s message without infringing copyright rules by, say, just downloading images from Google without proper authorization.
In all this time there is a photo we have found over and over (and over) again: the customer support girl wearing a headset whom we will address by her middle name: Sofie.

Sofie is a Danish young woman featured as a model in the stock photo site iStockphoto. There are pictures of her doing all kinds of stuff (conducting a business meeting, working in a lab, relaxing in a spa, gambling in a casino, strolling by the beach, walking in the park, cooking, scuba diving, water skiing, sucking a lemon, washing dishes, kissing her boyfriend, ranting at her laptop, meditating, shopping with her girlfriends and drinking a martini at a pool) but we all know her by her role as a customer support girl.
We can find her working at a Peruvian traveling agency…

Or selling air conditioning equipment in Florida…
She’s so easy to find there should be a drinking game devoted to her: each time Sofie is featured in a web site, everyone gets to drink a shot of tequila.

We have even seen Sofie as part of the print campaign of a private school, which made us wonder if she got tired of providing customer support for all those thousands of companies and decided instead to get a college degree.
As it turns out, in real life Sofie went to Law school before finding out that she wanted to be a musician (though she wrote her first song at age 11). She is currently living in London and so far she has composed, recorded and released 3 singles.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she is also a brand strategy and product development consultant at a company that sells women’s shoes (which by the way does not feature her stock photos).
Lawer, model, singer/songwriter and consultant… seems like our dear Sofie really does do a bit of everything just like in her stock photos. Out of respect for Sofie’s work we’ve disclosed her full name and details about her music career, though it’s all there on the web.
