Sending emails larger than 10 MB

Sending emails larger than 10 MB

Email is a tool primarily used for sending text information and it provides us with the option to attach files like text, pictures, music and video. We have no file size limit yet you may have trouble sending emails with attachments larger than 10-20 MB.

If you are a current customer of Ecolohosting and/or have a Maintenance Plan you may sometimes need to send large files to us. To update your website you must open a ticket and it may not support files larger than 10 MB.

We recommend some tools so you can easily send large files via email to us.

http://www.hightail.com/

Hightail makes it really easy to deliver files larger than what your email service may allow. Various subscription levels cover just about every file delivery need, and desktop applications as well as plug-ins make YouSendIt particularly convenient.
Free Hightail accounts offer enough bandwidth only for occasional file sending, however.

http://www.sendspace.com/

Sendspace is primarily a free web site for hosting files of various sizes and types.  There are three types of Sendspace accounts: Lite, Max and Pro.  A Sendspace Lite account is free and does not require a user to sign up.  A Sendspace Max accounts require a small fee and give users the chance to download files without waiting.  A Sendspace Pro account is similar to have a web server without a web site.  By registering a free account, you can manage files, folders and uploads as long as they remain on the server.

https://www.dropbox.com/

Dropbox is a simple online virtual storage utility that allows you to make your files accessible from almost anywhere. Designed for those who are tired of e-mailing files to themselves and carrying around flash drives, Dropbox looks to revolutionize the way you store and share files. You can right click any file and send a link to any of your files or share a whole folder with other users.

https://www.wetransfer.com/

WeTransfer is a cloud-based file transfer service where users can send files up to 2GB in the free version. For larger files there is a Plus version. With Plus version, users can send files up to 10GB and keep them avaible for as long as you like, the files can be protected with a password and links and backgrounds can be personalized.

Pick any of these 4 recommended options, they all have a free version. If you are going to send file updates through these services remember to send the link to updates@ecolohosting.com
